Moving to Kansasas via Ft. Rucker,AL ! by Garrinka2006-05-02 05:58:36
How close do you have to be? by jdelphiki2006-05-02 06:25:20
Can only be a half an hour away... by Garrinka2006-05-02 08:33:25
Salina would likely be too far... by jdelphiki 2006-05-02 17:37:40
...as a commute for your husband. It's about 45 minutes by interstate and that wouldn't count getting to where he'd need to be. The high schools there are good...or were when I was there. They have two public high schools, Central and South (yay South!), and one Catholic, Sacred Heart. There's also Southeast of Saline, a rural HS, but it's not part of the Salina district, IIRC.

I don't know anything about JC's academy, so I can't help you there.

Manhattan has always been a big high school...they probably need to split it up into two like they did in Lawrence a few years ago, but Manhattan isn't quite big enough to support it.

I don't know a lot about Abilene's schools, but I think they're okay. Haven't heard anything bad about them. You could probably google for the schools in the area (or through the Kansas state site) and check out their sites and other info...then cross-check them with other google references (i.e. searching specifically for the school or searching the local newspaper sites to see what they have on them).

Good luck and keep in touch when you get here. Despite what you hear on the news, Kansas is actually a very nice place to live. ;)
