Block's initial action | by rebill | 2015-11-02 05:54:02 |

>> ... assuming that either Ace tells Block what Ace sees, or that Block can see the motion ...
Negative. Foul: we're not writing an "if/then" program here. Your character can only act on information he/she/it has in their possession. This means that - should Ace be locked in abject fear, only able to make stuttering sounds or gibbering, Block only gets to act on what he sees/hears/smells/feels/tastes. So at this point, you either need to goad Ace into saying/doing something revealing, or Block must continue on as though he hasn't seen a thing. Since Block wasn't informed about the blob-thing, we can safely assume that Block has failed to notice it (maybe looking the wrong way) for some reason.
Thus:
>> Block sends this along the link to Tiny: "We've been made. Contact following our path, but I can't see it. Seems Supernatural - mass of undulating shadows. Orders? Engage, Flee, or other?"
---- simply doesn't happen. Yet. If you can manage to get Ace to post something along the lines of "What the H4 is THAT?!" pointing over the edge of the roofline, then we can start at that point and move forward. But we can't assume that Ace is going to do anything of the sort. What happens if Ace's deepest-seated fear is a glom of the unkown spiralling out of the darkness to envelope him in chaos and death? That might cause some severe mental trauma, might even disable him at this point. Not saying that's what happened - that's totally up to him. But we can't jump the gun and react to a stimulus that we don't know is there.
>> The question is - does Tiny respond? The next part of my actions depends on him.
Not at this time, as Ace hasn't (yet) responded in a way that makes Block aware of the impending doom creeping in your direction. You guys might want to suggest that in your super-secret dialog that the GM is totally unaware of, cannot read (because he's not part of the thread) but nonetheless figures exists anyway. It'll help pass the time, and will put events in the correct order in the thread.
>> While waiting for him, can I switch to astral sight or assensing to get a different view point on this thing?
Absolute genius! You are now getting into character! Just as lots of "normal" people are ignorant of the universe that envelopes Deckers/Hackers, so too are they ignorant of the Astral planes which magicians overlap and readily observe! And that's a great place to start, if you're looking for different stuff. Might also show you some things that are not always visible to the unaided/uninitiated eye, even. So, since this post is mostly a do-over, in light of the fact that none of this has happened, what would you like to do?
Post is ruled as a do-over; attempting to perform actions based on information not yet in possession of the character. (Foul on the play, but no yardage gained either way.) |
