Since then, I've talked with my mechanic several times;
On Wednesday I even went and visted the $XM_SHOP and looked at my van... I was there for maybe 30-45 minutes grilling them so that I understood EXACTLY what they were telling me. (I didn't accuse them of anything.)
When directly questioned as to how they thought water got in there, they ultimately said someone must've poured it down the dipstick staft. (Right. With an F4in' FUNNEL!?!)
So I left. Didn't tell 'em to do anything, I suspect it's still up on the hoist.
Friday morning, I _finally_ get the call back from $XM_SHOP's head office in pa.us, I tell them pretty much the whole story you saw in the previous post, I didn't exagerate, I didn't theorize, I just told him what I saw, and what didn't jive. He asked me if my mechanic was willing to put into writing what he'd seen, which he did.
After some more calls, between the shop, my mechanic, myself and my father... we gleaned that $XM_SHOP isn't following a very sane diagnostic procedure...
Put it to you this way - when someone comes in with a van that drives just fine, you take it for a test-drive, scan it with a computer. You do not *FIRST THING* put it on a hoist and take the pan off the bottom of it for a visual inspection. Maybe if you're concerned there's a problem you might... but even they - you'd scan it with the computer first.
Did I mention when I'd originally took it to them - I'd given 'em a copy of my mechanic's diagnostic write-up?
So my mechanic straight out tells me he thinks there's something not-right with what they're doing. Professional opinion. |
