Average Credit Cost Calculations by LongFist 2015-04-28 05:40:11
Every 7 weeks they'd like me to carry 4 to 6 credit hours of class.  Seems okay, until you realize they want about $520.00 per credit hour, and there are 14 weeks in a full semester.

      $520.00 * 4 = $2,080.00     (*2 [full semester] = $4,160)
      $520.00 * 6 = $3,120.00     (*2 [full semester] = $6,240)

...for-profit education has found its new business model, my friends, but good luck finding an accredited school for your desired degree!  Arizona State University is the *ONE* accredited university offering the BSEE (undergrad) degree - all the rest wanted to to a Master's (graduate) program right off the bat.  And yes, they all required the undergrad to get started.

Based on my calculations (with work, shown above) work will pitch in 96.153% of a semester per year!  Suddenly I'm not so enamored - but hey, that's almost like a free semester, outside of the "books racket".  Yeah, all of my classes require books, some require labs, and since the books are all eBooks you're paying something on the order of $198.00 for a PDF.  A copy of a PDF, really.  Yeah, they've definitely found their new business model...

    ...and the fun continues...

This morning's disagreement is the level of Math for which I qualify vs. their "You need to take *our* Math courses to ensure compatibility - like math comes from different makes and models, and we want to make sure that the math I'm equipped with works with their model of engineering.  Fair enough, but this is gong to seriously impact my graduation date.  Which, come to think of it, may have been their plan all along.  Interesting...

...hey, I said out the outset of this thread that I was going to post my thoughts, musings in addition to facts and figures.  I think.  Ah, well, that's what's happening, anyway, so get used to it.  :P
