one thing I saw in your code that isn't the problem, but doesn't need to be there is in that first if statement inside the while loop, you check if index (idx) is less than zero. But the while loop itself does that... doesn't it? I dont' know why the function would throw errors when you have a height of 20+. I have to get to class, but I can look at it tonight or tomorrow.
