You note that there is a terrific lack of anybody actively shooting at you. In fact, the foyer seems deserted except for you three. Still, it is fun to zip back and forth. It would appear that the foyer-long desk of informatics are controlled elsewhere, or the command channel isn't one of the "normal" ones - although with corporate paranoia being what it is, what exactly *is* "normal" for control systems, anyway? None of the monitors sparks to life, and in a few seconds you realize that they're slaved to another system anyway, and it's not taking any callers. Avoiding wasting time, you move onward.
You *DO* note, however, that there *may* be access to the building's wireless control network. An interesting thought, but one rife with its own dangers: in there - there be "spiders": Netrunners (really just more hackers) that spend their day handling the exceptions and managing the building's automatic systems when they fail to be 'automatic'. Because they're *not* computers, they could pose a unique cyberspace challenge. |
