Something similar happened to me. Tried to reach a working site that now it's a parked domain (more info on domain parking).You should try a Whois search and see if there is some contact info there. If the domain was sold you can try http://www.coolwhois.com/. That site archives the results of lookups, so if somebody else has looked up a domain, the record is still there. Only been up for a few months, though. Links to archived versions appear at the bottom of each record. Hope it helps.
