Thoughts on ID and the theory of evolution by Garrinka2005-12-21 04:34:35

So who's to define what god is? by ripley8 2005-12-21 06:52:52
God's not a guy in white robes with a beard of wisdom sitting up
in the sky looking down upon human (and other) people. I don't see a
single person at all as my idea of what "god" is. It's more of a
metaphorical aggregate of all aspects that make up what people think
god's supposed to be.
In my opinion about everything which involves churches and other
forms of religion probably is wrong about the truth of deity in
every aspect. And possibly they're equally right about it at the
same time.
Worshipping according to a set of rules - most of which have evolved
over time and have lost their need or meaning (like for example not
being allowed certain kind of foods for a group probably started out
of health issues related to a climate where said foods spoilt so soon
it was just too dangerous to eat so a rule was established to keep
people from poisoning themselves when they had no better knowledge on
when that food might still be safe) and started as a way to get a
functioning society once such a set of rules started to be nescessary
- in my opinion does not help your relationship with said deity at all.

OTOH I come to think that certain aspects in the universe (like for
example the 4° anomaly of water) may be more than coincidence.
Without said anomaly, life as we know it wouldn't be possible. But
then, we are of course adapted to how physics in our universe work
because we evolved in it. It's a little bit of chicken and egg. Are
we that way due to the universe or is the universe that way so life
can be like it is and in that case how much coincidence is in this?
Or maybe isn't?
