The troll-sized "Shadow" indeed moves one step towards you, then leans down and says in a rasping stage whisper, "Can you see me now?" It appears that you can. He appears, on the astal, to be a shadow outline of a troll-like person - very much like a computer drawing that has been "solarized" then "greyed", producing a strangely hazed negative-image of that person. However, deep within you can make out the slender shapes of sub-structures and what looks to be cabling, as well as the blocky outlines of what could possibly be bones. It's confusing, and the entire melange of layers takes you quite by surprise: you figured it must be a ghost or something, but the details, those details...
...speaking of details, you note that Ace has a good bit of "wire" as well, and some incredibly interesting blocks trying to form-fit to his skull, but definitely beneath the surface. Remembering that he's a driver/rigger, you figure that's just probably the norm for him; interface hardware that allows him to do that thing that he does. But you've seen cyber rigger adaptation gear before, and usually it's a *lot* smaller than that. Maybe he just didn't have the scratch to get the smaller gear, and instead got some older gear implanted...
But nothing else is moving down the halls. For now. And after a few seconds, the scanning ping-beeps from the MGs stops, leaving the corridor/area in silence... |
