Once they find out, they likely won't quit until they get you to bend again, and again, and again...
It's classic neurotic/psychotic behavior a la stalkers. If they call 14 times and you don't answer, but you answer on the 15th, you've just cemented a fact in their mind - 15 calls gets a reward; they will then call even faster to get to that 15th call, and if it doesn't come, they know that they can eventually get you to answer since you have before.
You can =not= allow them any victories like that, in any way, shape or form.
