Hardware recovery question by wabbit65 2007-12-31 06:56:41
Here's the problem:
A Maxtor Shared Storage Plus drive died. The MSS will no longer connect to the network. The fan is slow and intermittent, so my guess it that it's failing a startup test of some kind. From what I've found online, the drive is formatted with an ext3 filesystem. Is this correct? Assuming that is correct, what is the preferred method of connecting the drive to another system, directly or via a usb enclosure? I do not have a linux system handy, so I'm wondering if such a drive can be "seen" correctly by either winxp or mac OSX

All help and advice is greatly appreciated
