Threadjack: LEGO vs. LEGOs ~:) by kreedah 2017-02-23 09:59:09
In this case, it was my (mis)adaptation from Portuguese.

The brand is and remains LEGO and we call it LEGO:
"I loooooove LEGO!"
"You can buy me LEGO for Christmas."

But when we refer to the toy itself, maybe because it's made of (lots of) bricks and both those and the constructions are VERY plural, we usually say LEGOs:
"You can buy me LEGOs for Christmas."
"Put away your LEGOs, your bedroom's a mess!"
"You're too young to play truth or dare. Go play with LEGOs!"

But thanks for the lesson. ~:)))
I really didn't know it kept the singular form in English. ~:$
