Starting out is all about collecting resources. Check YouTube under 'Clash of Clans single player missions' for some GREAT video walk throughs on raiding the goblin villages. There are two basic approaches to CoC: Farming and Trophy collection Early on, you'll want to resource farm. Keep all your storage units and your town hall inside your walls along with your defensive units. Mines, elixer extractors, barracks, and camps can be placed outside the walls. They don't hold much loot for raiders, and their presence outside the walls effectively pushes back the spawning boundary for raiders. Leave narrow gaps between buildings inside the walls for traps.
