Warning: Contains Profanity by LongFist 2014-01-28 10:21:24
Now that I have your attention, I thought I'd share an epiphany I recently had - it involves profanity, which concerns everybody for whatever reason.  (There are those who will take issue to that last statement loudly, thus proving its validity.)  Anyway, in our corporation they are retiring one contractor who supplied IT and Help desk services with another, so various individuals are leaving their IT/Help Desk positions for job opportunities further afield.  This causes the remainders of the existing contractor, who reportedly hold what remains of their contract until July, to have to backfill those positions until the new company can fill them.  The new contracting company is big on outsourcings, so they haven't necessarily got enough people "in place" to cover these sudden (but intermittent) vacancies.

One of our Systems Administrators, a sharp young man with a propensity for lacing his language with F4's, just recently got reassigned, and vanished.  They are attempting to press one of our more talented Help Desk professionals into taking up his duties, with mixed success.  The Help-Desk Monkey (as he lovingly refers to himself) was never intended for this level of commitment or intensity, and has noticed (among other things) that his verbiage, also, was becoming more and more spotted with hardcore profanity.

In all the days of my youth I'd heard that "Profanity was merely a weak mind trying to express itself."  I think I have found a different explanation, however: "Profanity is actually a strong mind trying to express itself in a manner that most weak minds can understand."

For what it's worth, based on my experiences in the field of Computer Science, I'll have to say that throughout the years the most popular language in Programming and Development was (and is still) Profanity.  Other languages may be applied to solutions in tandem, but profanity is the one common thread that joins us all.

Discussion?  (Probably none.  This is my diary, after all...)
