Because "thinking long term" when you're poor by shadowsystems 2008-01-29 13:18:22
IS paycheck-to-paycheck.
What is this "savings" you speak of?
Poor people don't make enough TO save money.
If you have a choice between "investing in the future" or *eating*, the choice is a simple one.
There's NO POINT in "saving for the future" if you're dead from starvation in two weeks because of it.
"Thinking long term" is only possible if you're making enough to pay ALL your bills AND save money, too.
(And YES I mean "Living within your means", not charging everything just because you can.)
Us poor people don't make enough to "put something aside for a rainy day" because EVERY day is a [CENSORED] typhoon trying to kill us.
Ah, yes the US poor. by CynicalRyan 2008-01-29 13:34:58
Living hand to mouth, as it were.
Barely enough fresh water, and malnourished, too. Oh, wait.
How many job offers did you turn down, shadowsystems? For which reasons? MAkes you a bit of a hypocrite, that.
Wow... by shadowsystems 2008-01-29 14:39:41
The only job offers I've turned down were the ones:
* too far away for me to walk to, since I don't have a car & can't afford public transit.
* the ones I wasn't qualified for & I knew it (Degree? Nope, don't have one.)
* the ones that I can't do (No, I don't know COBOL, sorry.)
Now, go [CENSORED] yourself with that attitude.
(Leaves in absolute disgust because your personal attack didn't deserve a reply, much less this much of a polite one.)
