to cash a cheque before it's considered stale dated. Some banks will make exceptions for certain types of cheques. Such if it's right at year change and it's a personal check and you know it's from someone elderly.(ie I've not had problems when my mom gave me stale dated)... some banks allow 6mos-1 yr but it varies with type of cheque. If you take it to the bank and it's non cashable contact consumer and corporate affairs. They'll investigate it, hopefully resolve it and might fine the company for poor business practices.
