        Agreed... by myke 2002-03-31 10:51:49
but AC motors have the associated 60Hz buzz... then again, you have to run most DC motors with power dirty anyways to start it. (Think model train locos)

My Halogen lamp is a 24V unit, with a transformer hanging off the wall and a switch mid-cable, so the txformer is always on an buzzthing thru the drywall. Same hold true for one of my desk ones... the other does actually switch the AC (AND taps the txformer! :)

My Sony alarm clock is obviously low voltage with LED (not VFD or LCD) displays... but it's got to get that low voltage somehow... so it's thru the transformer, and then since it's not exactly high quality, there's always a bit of sound coming thru the speaker. The [OFF][ON][RADIO ALARM][RADIO + BEEP ALARM] switch is such a piece of junc, that sometimes you can hear the beep if you haven't go the contacts completely separated... VERY annoying when you're snoozing.

(Man! - what have you got against my 60Hz rant? :)
