Only one reply from the UFfieverse, and it was to tell me tough shi...
Can't advertise through SacBee, since they want to be paid to run the ad (for an ONLINE ONLY ad!) and I don't have the cash to do so.
Can't advertise through MySpace, because I can't figure out any way to keep it local only, and there's no way in hell I'm paying for shipping. YES I realize I can write that into the ad, but I'd have to do it for EACH ad, and there's WAAAAY too many items to sell - I'd end up looking like a Dealer or someone trying to fence stolen goods. =(
I can't find another "local only" for-sale advertising medium, and putting it all up on my website would be pointless. (My traffic is under 100 hits, and it's been up for nearly a decade.)
CraigsList is less-than-worthless.
Nothing but people flagging & removing my posts, claiming I'm either a Dealer or trying to sell stolen property, so I can't even advertise there TO try and sell anything.
Of the *THREE* replies I've gotten:
* one says he's bedridden by doc's orders and wants me to drive to AUBURN to deliver a $20 NIC to him. Excuse me, you schmuck, but it would cost that in GAS to get there and back!
* one wants me to meet him in Folsom to deliver a $10 set of headphones... that he wants to pay for with a personal cheque.
* the third is from some woman who wants to pay me via USPS money order & have me ship the item to her. Yeah, like THAT'S not a red flag screaming fraud...
Across the bottom of every CL email you get is says "Avoid Scams by dealing locally. No wiring money, cross-border deals, cashier's cheques, money orders, escrow or shipping!"
And despite the fact that I pointed this out to her, she STILL wants me to ship it to her.
(Mega Sigh)
What's the *&^%ing point?
Why bother even TRYING to sell this shi...
I might as well GIVE the F*&^%ing stuff away & then put a bullet through my temple to save my creditors the trouble.
