lntellectual discussions about Americans inGermany by Garrinka2005-12-21 04:57:55
my thoughts by ParityBit 2005-12-21 09:03:33
well i grew up in an area in germany that hadn't any american army stationed nearby because we had the french army as our "protectors" down here.so i guess i cant really answer that 1. question really quick.

my thoughts on 2.

- learn how to drive on german autobahn, roundabouts and that there is some thing like "rechts-vor-links"....until you got that ......i will keep safe distance to any car with HK, AD and AF on the license plate ;)

- learn at least some basic german (danke, guten tag is not enough!)....not every german person can talk english allthough they have had it in school ...

3. well you're only leaving some places in germany. i dont think that too soon the bases in ramstein and kaiserslautern will be left by the us forces because they have a too high strategic value for operations in the near east.

4. as with allmost every baracks. down here the old french baracks are either rotting or beeing convertet to housing for people or even small companies (industrial parcs)
