Old PSU gets nearly white-hot when you turn the system on.
Cousin's "solution" is to take off the side of the case, set up a "house fan" near it, & blow air over it to try & keep it cool.
Unfortunately, dingleberry "forgets" to tell ME that this is why the side of the case is open, so when I reach in to see if there are wires bouncing off the top of the CPU fan (which might explain the "rattling noise" I'm hearing), I nearly end up with 2nd Degree burns on my arm where it got too close to the aforementioned plasma torch PSU...
Bring system home, replace PSU with new one ($30 for a 480 Watt) & "suddenly" all his "hard drive issues" disappear.
Hey, Cousin... Maybe the NEXT time your system starts to try to die, you could tell me when it FIRST starts happening, and not AFTER it tries to CATCH FIRE?!?!????
