TURBONERD CLASS IN NETHACK: Those of you wondering about the "Turbonerd" class that was A.J.'s avatar in this story arc can now play as that very class in Nethack! UFie archnerd went on a coding binge and produced the following patch: he warns you'll have to compile it yourself. A few warnings from archnerd:
- I don't have any binaries at the moment, so you'll need to apply this patch to the original source code and then compile it yourself, which is frequently an unpleasant process. I'm welcoming volunteers if anyone wants to create and/or maintain binary distributions.
- I think it should be reasonably bug-free but I've only had a day or so to test it, so if you lose your level 30 character to a segfault, please don't hurt me.
- Engraving "Hastur Hastur Hastur" is probably a bad idea.
- Engraving "Ia Ia Cthulhu Fhtagn" is definitely a bad idea.
He's also started up a UFie Nethack Server with the patch installed if you aren't compiler-capable or inclined. He instructs: To start playing, telnet to nuclearwombats.net, port 20040. Top scores are displayed on the website at the same address. A hearty round of applause to archnerd!
