 For those in or around the Chicago area, I'll be attending Duckon XI June 7 to 9 at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield. I urge everyone who has an inkling to attend to do so, if for no other reason than to help the Duckon folks raise funds for the charity they represent, a very worthy one IMO. If we get enough UFies there, I'll be far more inclined to bring something unique as a giveaway, in addition to the items I'll be contributing to the Duckon Art Auction. (My word Harold, look at all those dents in the floor. Someone must be dropping something heavy.)You might've noticed that I've been attending the smaller shows more frequently as of late. I make no secret of my preference for the smaller, less commercial and more intimate conventions and fests, just because I have a soft spot in my heart for charities. I'll still be attending the big shows from time to time, but if you'd like to actually have a chance at having a beer with me, it's the community/charity shows you'll more than likely see me quaffing a pint. :) Anyway, I once again encourage you attend! Hope to see you in Chicago!

And know that we actually *do* care when some little piece of madness we have showcased becomes popular with the UFies. For those of you who don't know, the LOTD's are sent in by UFies every day. I don't go out on the web hunting these things down meself, no. The fans do the hunting, and culling out of previously featured--when they remember to check--and reviewing of suggested LOTD's for our coveted "14-year-old UFie Sister Appropriate" rating. Some UFies are veritable LOTD Monarchs, sending me cool, funny and geeky links on a regular basis. (You know who you are and I heart you, each and every one) Every Sunday, the most popular LOTD for the week is chosen (determined by click thru stats). At the end of the year, I use the LOTD Picks Of The Week as the basis for determining the Top 12 of the Year. It's actually a quick and dirty way for me to get the work done ahead of time so that I can take a 12-day vacation, but don't tell Illiad. So, if you have a cool, funny or geeky link you want to send in, check out the guidelines and go for it.
