| | [WebDiva D] GEEKFINDER NEW YEAR | Date:Fri Jan 4 12:03:34 2002 |
Welcome back to Geekfinder and Happy New Year to all! And may 2002 bring the much-needed, anticipated employment increase that the analyst wags are all forecasting.Congratulations to Bill and Steve, our Success Stories for the month (although Steve is an old success who generously sent in his update). Bill C. Over the last year the consulting company I used to work for has been slowly shrinking. So when I confirmed that bench time had been completely eliminated (September 17) I knew the end would be near. Fortunately, the project I was on was scheduled to run through November, so I had a little time. I spent a week polishing up my resume and trying a few internal contacts to try to avoid starting with a new company. Then on September 25 I started the search in earnest...Read full story Steve B. Okay, I should have sent this in oh... about a year ago, but I was hunkered down in my Y2K bunker. I was working for a small aerospace firm doing [shudder] Visual Basic development, with a one and a half hour commute each way. At the time I took the job, I had just dropped out of college due to a lack of funds and needed something to support my family with, fast...Read full story Good luck to Stephen, Tim and Edward, our Featured Geekfinder Resumes. Finally, the discussion about "where have all the entry-level positions gone" in Between Geeks got a couple of very interesting contributions by senzo who is a headhunter from an IT recruiting firm. He gave a bunch of suggestions and checklists over a couple of postings. I though that having a headhunter's point of view was beneficial for all job seekers. | [YOHIMBE] Happy New Year. IRC is buzzing tonight. | Date:Mon Dec 31 16:39:19 2001 |
I've been bumping around the various channels. This is an electronic happy new years to all. And in Europe, as I write, its shortly past midnight and well into the new year. Greetings to the 'friendly types on #userfriendly , #linux, #linuxhelp and others. A special nod to Budd Gardner/MistGhost who was gracious enough to recognize my nick instantly. I was ... Mistified to note that people recognize me....

| [Illiad] NEVER LET GO OF YOUR PRECIOUS | Date:Mon Dec 31 14:19:14 2001 |
We continue with the monthly installment of I.T. angst in animated form, with the fourth episode brought to you by Seattle Lab. This time around you'll see a resemblance to a certain movie trailer, but the message within is surely the stuff of a Clive Barker shudderfest. Plus, another nifty contest; Download Mail Warden and you will be entered to win a 500-user license of Mail Warden ($5000.00 value) *and* a Lord of The Rings Millenium Edition book set! My thanks to everyone who takes the time to view and participate!
