| [WebDiva D] APRIL GEEKFINDER SUCCESS STORY II | Date:Thu Apr 13 10:48:51 2000 |
| Ooooh, I love this!! Another Geekfinder success story for the month. In March, I was informed that the company I had been working for for three years as a system administrator had just been sold, and that my position was no longer needed, as the new owners had plenty of admins. I immediately posted a resume to Geekfinder. Within days I had several prospects. After three phone interviews with a company in New York, NY, they flew me in for a face to face interview. The made me a very generous offer (much much better than my old salary, with full benefits etc) I accepted, and have not returned to Florida since. Of course, once I find an apartment here in Manhatten I will be moving my belongings here, but I started work March 27th, and it has been one heck of a wild ride. I love my new job, my coworkers are great, and this has been a big boost to my career. Thanks GeekFinder! -Steve Thanks, Steve and congrats to you!

| [WEBDIVA D] THE REAL SURVEY 2000 | Date:Mon Apr 10 10:40:23 2000 |
| On behalf of the entire UF staff I would like to thank all 10783 respondents to the UF Reader Survey. Your input is invaluable. Special thanks to all 4012 UFies who took the extra time to give us comments. Your suggestions were extraordinary, insightful and extremely beneficial to UF site planning. We have a couple of projects in the works which will be launched within the next few weeks. But as a result of the survey, *many* UFie site and merchandise suggestions will also be implemented over the next few months. The annual survey is our way of touching base with the community, not to see how good we are doing but rather how we can improve. And we got that this year, in spades. We hear you, dear UFies...thank you again. The result set and all interpretations can be viewed at UF Survey 2000

| SURVEY 2000 RESULTS AS INTERPRETED BY WEBDIVA D - FINALÉ | Date:Mon Apr 10 09:53:05 2000 |
Final Fave Comments: Two words: Swimsuit IssueI've had to stop printing off the UF strips relevant to my job and posting them in my cubicle, as most of them are relevant... What would really be cool is if you had something interactive like "Ask the Dust Puppy" or "Stump the Crud Puppy" or even "What the Hell Did Pitr Say?" I, like all other Tech Support people all over the world, enjoy a comic that shares our pain. One of the more annoying realities in the tech world in the Pacific Northwest at the moment (I'm in Seattle) is the unnerving influx of "health nuts" into the workforce. I and everybody in my office would be relieved to see some comic treatment of our office manager who scolds us when we eat meat, dairy, refined sugar, non organically grown vegetables. I have a russian kid who works part time with me at a gas station. He is always planning different ways to undermine his enemies and make easy money. I saw in him Pitr, so I had him bring back a russian linux distro from the mother country and he is now learning to code under it. Further bluring my distinction between reality and fiction. One of the reasons I like UF so much (aside from the fact that I used to do customer service work and can really relate to some of the calls Greg and Miranda get) is that Greg looks and acts just like my husband, who also does tech support for an ISP. Steve works 10+ hours a day, four days a week, and on the days he's gone, I can read UF, and it's almost like I'm at work with him. He also reads UF, so it's one more thing we can share. As a self confessed suit wearing marketing weasel, I love Cobb and Stef. Sure I suck at Quake and talk out both sides of my mouth. But, I wear checkerboard Vans, blue jeans, and my UFie shirts when I pound on my dual pentium linux box at home that I built myself. Keep picking on us marketing weasels. We usually deserve it but remember there are some members of a secret society of marketing types that can use vi with the best of them... I love the site. I mean, I work at an ISP, I do computer hardware work, I usually have a scruffy beard, I tend to wear a ballcap a lot, I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan, and my name is Mike. How could I NOT love this strip. Sorry, I can't give you any comments, I gotta make this quick, I'm at work ...and from the bean guy, a closing Huh? Well, to be honest I find the site very funny, although I am not 100% open source friendly, though I like the basic idea. So occasionally I feel annoyed at what I feel to be less than fair jokes, but I'm a little too serious sometimes. And my woman never makes enough beans when I come home for dinner. Ye gods woman, you can never have enough beans.
