Our pals and sponsors over at Register4less.com are, as always, interested in what Geekdom at Large has to say about domain provision. The (multi-part) question this month is: How important is keeping your personal information private (out of your domain's) public whois record to you? Are you getting spammed at your whois record address, and if so, how often? If you're using a privacy feature on your domains, how much are you paying in addition to your registration?
Doug over at R4L also adds: Do people want to be able to have their name/organization show on the whois record? Personally, I'm leaning
towards showing first & last name which the registrant can set, the
organization as c/o Register4less.com and then our PO box address and a phone
number that doesn't get you anywhere. Knowing these guys, they probably won't even charge for it, but don't take what I say as a promise. Please take the opportunity to give them feedback on this, as you can significantly impact what choices they make as they fine-tune R4L to be as geek- and privacy-friendly as possible.
Don't forget that Register4Less is a direct sponsor and partner of UserFriendly, and every domain you register with them through us (or directly at uf.register4less.com) helps UF! These guys have my highest recommendation.

UF WINTER SPONSORSHIP DRIVE: The Winter 2004 Sponsorship Drive starts on Monday, December 6 2004. This time around we have different goodies for Evil Geniuses in Training and up! In addition to the 12-months of ad-free UF and a membership card, they get a number of DustPuppy Antenny Balls! The Antenny Balls will not be made available anywhere else -- it's exclusive to sponsors! In addition, Evil Geniuses and Dark Regents will also be receiving a sheet of Canadian Stamps featuring UF artwork. These stamps are from the Canadian Banknote Company Limited and can be used for mailing within Canada! Each sheet comes with 21 stamps and an enlarged image, which makes it perfect for framing. Once again, these will not be available for sale anywhere!
And as always, everyone from Minions on up will receive a nifty, personalized UF Sponsorship Card! (Yes, it's just like a thermal embossed credit card!)
The Winter 2004 Sponsorship drive will end on December 31. PLEASE NOTE: We can't ship anything until the drive is over and the database is closed off. We expect to ship everything by the middle or end of January 2005.
SPEAKING OF SPONSORS: Would Simon Mall, Thomas Schaefer and Richard Crawford please drop me a line (illiad at this domain.org)? Your sponsorship goodies bounced back from the post office -- I need to check your shipping address so I can get these to you.
THE UF DECEMBER 2004 DESKTOP WALLPAPER: North American and European format calendars [1600x1200, .PNG, >1Mb ea.] are now available! Note the situation, and that there's a snow shovel within Miranda's reach...
MYSPACE YOURSPACE UFSPACE:UFie Dreamsinchrome wrote in to inform us: Just a heads up, but for any UFies who have a myspace.com account for social networking, I have set up a Userfriendly.org group. Thanks D!
