| [WebDiva D] UF GOES SLOVENIAN! | Date:Thu Jun 8 10:57:48 2000 |
We are pleased to announce the addition of Uporabnikom prijazni -- the Slovenian translation of User Friendly -- to the Cartoon Archives. Uporabnikom prijazni joins our German translation Benutzer freundlich and UF-la bande dessinée, the French-Canadian translation. If you haven't checked out UF in other languages yet, take a few minutes to do so.And as a special note to raul, who has been taking flak in the Cartoon Comment System for providing a Spanish translation of the daily strip dialogue: raul, Muchas gracias por la traducción en español cada día. Usted hace una contribución agradable a nuestra comunidad. Continúe por favor. También, por favor perdón mi español pobre. D.

| [Wildcard] RFC - MODERATION SYSTEM RULES | Date:Tue Jun 6 18:46:12 2000 |
| After mulling over censorship vs. responsibility and the issues of free speech vs. moderation for weeks I've decided that we need to keep this simple and general. No rules system we come up with, no matter how complex, will cover every situation. Thanks to Serratus for these ideas: -Keep comments somewhat related to topic -No blatent advertising -Don't post anything you'd be ashamed of if your mother read it -No gratuitous swearing -Try to avoid OS/distro/etc wars And some from the UF staff -Keep flames to a minimum -Keep Natalie Portman petrified/hot grits/etc posts on the site where they belong. Honestly, I never imagined I'd be on the "responsible" side of one of these debates. I'm usually the one screaming free speech. Maybe next, I'll be a highschool teacher.

Thanks go out to the VERY cool people at Kernel Newbies. Unlike the name suggests there are some incredibly savvy people there who helped yours truly answer some heavy tech questions for planning. I'm impressed at the skill level, and the helpfulness. They host a couple of irc channels where I did my asking. All in all a positive experience. Anyone out there have a complete wake_one patch for Linux 2.2.15 or .16?
