| Hey folks, My sincere thanks to everyone who wrote in wishing me good health and all of that. I'm happy to say that I'm recovering nicely from what was a truly nasty bout of food poisoning, and it did a real number on me, but you should see the other guy... So, I'm not at 100% quite yet, but my doctor assures me that I'll be fine in due course. In addition, my deepest apologies to all at the London Linux Expo. I was looking forward to meeting everyone and exploring a little of my ancestry on my father's side. However, I was made to understand that the UK isn't going anywhere so there's always next year. I'll avoid eating anything for a week beforehand to make sure I get over there. :) And of course a tip o' the hat to WebDiva and Darkside Dave and all of the staff who covered for me while I was down for the count. I couldn't have suffered quite as worry-free as I did without them. And that's worth gold when you're in that dark, tepid hole that the botulism bacteria drags you into, kicking and screaming and having your digestive tract knotted into escheresque forms, hellborn agony erupting from the very cells which carry your identity and progeny, even as you gasp for the air that...uh... Anyway, back to cartooning. Thanks folks. ;)

| Winner of Linux Magazine's 100 Best Linux Web Sites - Careers - June 2000 issue June Success Story I am a Java certified programmer who was hugely bored and underpaid in her network infrastructure type job (tech support for Microsoft operating systems and a few other side duties thrown in for spice). I posted my resume to Geekfinder about three weeks ago. I've had 5 interviews and two offers. I accepted a really neat one. Now I get to go play with Java, XML and some other cool stuff instead of searching for things to do in my (former) mildly boring job. I'm getting paid more too. Missa Congrats to you, Missa...and way to go Geekfinder!

| Just arrived in my email, for sharing: Hey Debwa, Just dropping a quick note so you can let the rest of the staff/world know what's up. Fever seems to have broken completely (after 3 days at around 103...ick) and the cramps are down to one or two an hour. Not that nauseous anymore. Still weak, kinda dizzy, probably from dehydration and loss of minerals...fixing that with Gatorade and I can stomach watermelon right now. Sleepy as hell, all the drugs have this 'makes you drowsy' component in them. The hallucinations are entertaining at least. So the doc tells me that I should be on the recovery path now. In a couple days or three I should be functional again so by early next week I expect to be back at the hacking stone. Gonna go drink more Gatorade and sleep more. Thanks for all the thoughts and offers, might just hit you up for that chicken broth. JD

| We deeply regret to inform the UK UFies that Illiad will not be attending the show. He was stricken with what appears to be food poisoning the day before yesterday, and after a couple of trips to the hospital has been ordered by his doctor to have complete bed rest for the next week. He is most unhappy about letting the fans down and, together with UF staff, has tried to make it up to them. Our own Darkside Dave will be in attendance at what was to be the signing, and is bringing with him 350 of Illiad's UF Media business cards that have been hand numbered and signed. These cards are the original UF Media business card design and are out of print...a collector's item, if you will. Along with the cards go a stuffed Dust Puppy. Yes, a stuffed Dust Puppy. As well, the first 20 people at the signing will receive a signed UF book. In addition to the Show-specific piece of art that is available to everyone, Darkside swears he will give his autograph to any fan who would like the signature of Pitr's evil twin. Be nice to Dave, folks, he's trying hard to make a sad situation better. Finally, there will be a huge Get Well Illiad card at the booth for the fans to sign. So go ahead and attend the show and the signing anyway...Illiad would love for you to get your own little UF collector's items. We will keep everyone posted as to how Illiad is doing. Meantime, leave your get well comments here for the big guy if you aren't attending the show to sign the card. Huggles to you, Illiad. The staff misses you and orders you to rest and get better. Let me know if you want the Diva to cook up some nice homemade chicken soup broth, babe.
