IT'S ONE MINUTE OF YOUR TIME FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIVES: On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month Commonwealth nations around the world will observe a minute of silence for all of those who died in the wars of the last century, as well as the loss and suffering experienced by veterans who survived the war. They may or may not still be with us today, but it behooves us to never forget their sacrifices.
I offer the following wallpaper and poem [PNG, 1600x1200, 880k] for those who care about this sort of thing. The poem is mine but the image is not; I mostly made some contrast and colour changes to an existing photo of a battlefield after a Canadian advance in the Great War. I applied a few filters and added the poppy, but that's about it.
I do recommend you take some time to read up on the histories of our modern wars if for no other reason than to develop further understanding of how expensive our way of life is in terms of sacrifice. To start you off, I suggest this page at Veterans Affairs Canada.
