| AAAAAAGH!! DATAFART! 23:25 PST 01 NOV 1998 I had a datafart this weekend. Some really, really cool files that people sent me were lost. If in the last 2-3 months you've sent me a file for the Fan Art section, or you sent me a theme, or something like that, please send it again. I'm mortified. Baaaad Illiad.

THE SURVEY IS OVER 13:01 PST 31 OCT 1998 That's it folks. The survey has been closed off, and no further entries will be accepted. We'll be drawing the names of the three winners in the first week of November. Check back to see if you've won a t-shirt! Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey.

| EVIL BOOMING LAUGH 23:41 PST 30 OCT 1998 It's close enough that I'll just say Happy Hallowe'en to everyone. Hope you all have a great weekend. If you're a pagan, welcome to the beginning of a new cycle and Samhain.

USERFRIENDLY.ORG E-MAIL ADDRESSES 22:02 PST 29 OCT 1998 This will have to go in the FAQ, but I'll address it here because it's coming up. Yes, userfriendly.org e-mail addresses will become available. No, they aren't for free. No, you don't have to pay any money to get one. They'll be awarded to contest winners or people who help out with the site, et cetera. Hope that helps clear things up a little! SURVEY DRAWING TO A CLOSE 22:07 PST 29 OCT 1998 Only a couple days to go before the User Friendly Survey is concluded. If you haven't entered yet, you're missing out on a chance to win a t-shirt or original caricature. Give it a go! It'll only take a few minutes, and no, your e-mail address and name won't be sold to mailing list brokers. I hate spam.

| NEW USER FRIENDLY T-SHIRTS! 21:23 PST 28 OCT 1998 I've been informed that the second line of User Friendly t-shirts will be available for order by next week at the latest. Yup, we do credit cards this time too. Quality of the shirt is comparable to the last ones, which was high. What's on the shirt? The Dust Puppy on a mouse. You can see the art if you want. There's also the URL of this site on the left sleeve. If this one is successful, we'll do long-sleeved shirts and shirts in different colours too. Keep an eye on the news here for an announcement when the order form goes up. The t-shirt would make a good Xmas gift, especially if you get your order in early.

INVADING THE OFFICE IS A NO-NO 23:04 PST 27 OCT 1998 Some of you might have deduced where it was that I worked, which is fine. What's not fine is descending on my co-workers, looking for me so you can see what an Illiad looks like. I'm just a normal guy, really. Puh-LEEEZE don't visit the office looking for me. There are two reasons for this: 1) I'm mostly working from home now, so I won't be there anyway, and 2) my co-workers are busy, and they can't spare the time to talk with visitors. Small companies like the one I work for are usually heavily overworked, and we can't spend the time to chat, as much as we'd like to. I really, really don't want to hear another complaint from my co-workers that someone "dropped by looking to meet Illiad." If you want to meet me, I'd be more than pleased to have a pleasant chat with you at the User Friendly Meet on November 15. Thanks for understanding, gang. UPDATE ON THE FIRST USER FRIENDLY MEET 22:29 PST 27 OCT 1998 Please note that the User Friendly Meet in Vancouver on the 15th of November does not require that you enter the Quake tournament. It's $5.00 to enter the tourney, but if you just want to watch or schmooze, you can do that for absolutely free. And after the tourney we're off to get some eats somewhere. So write uf-junkie@home.com and let him know you're gonna be there. ORGANIZER RECRUITED 22:21 PST 27 OCT 1998 Thank you to everyone who wrote in to volunteer their time in helping me keep the Friendly Forum organized. The dubious honour goes to a brave chap by the name of cbear. I won't be able to bring him up to speed until later this week, but when he gets online, he'll be the lucky soul you can complain to when your messages go missing. The poor sot. I feel sorry for him already. :) BTW, the selection process involved a list of names, a blindfold, and my finger. Well, something like that. MAIL MOVEMENTS 23:00 PST 27 OCT 1998 The User Friendly mailing list has moved. Check out the Geek Communications Item of Note below and you'll see the new details. If you were already on the list you're probably still on it. If not, mail Mimick and let her know you fell through the cracks. One thousand thank-yous to Mongo over at chia.net for initially hosting the list.

DO YOU ORGANIZE YOUR GARBAGE? 21:07 PST 26 OCT 1998 Then you're probably the very person I'd like to talk to. I need someone who has a couple of hours a week and an anal-retentive nature to help me keep the Friendly Forum organized. You know, moving messages to the appropriate topics, pruning Very Bad postings, basically keeping the whole thing tidy. In return for your slavish devotion, I'll give you your very own @userfriendly.org e-mail address if you want it. Keen? Write me.
