| | [WebDiva D] SEPTEMBER GEEKFINDER SUCCESS STORIES | Date:Fri Sep 8 10:41:02 2000 |
Rather than hunting for the appropriate job, which hasn't proved too fruitful on other sites, I instead posted my resume. Within days I had at least a dozen calls from recruiting agencies and potential employers. It has now been three weeks since I announced my availability ...full story Dana J. You guys are the best. I announced my availability, and the very next day, I got a call to interview for my dream job ...full story Michael K. I am writing, to thank you, for your excellent site. Last week, I found a job opportunity, in another state, that looked interesting. Today, one week later, I have been offered the job ...full story James S. Last June I submitted my resume to Geekfinder.. Within 2 days I had 8 interviews. Within 3 I had a job ...full story James P. After several months of looking and finding nothing in my specialty (EDI and e-commerce) and geographic location I was getting really bummed and thinking MacDonalds and hamburger flipping as a better alternative than being bored out of my skull ...full story Kier S I was not prepared, e-mails and phone calls started pouring in, at first my attitude was "anything that doesn't suck" as the number of companies trying to recruit me for phone interviews, video interviews, and plane trips for face-to-face interviews I suddenly got downright picky about who I responded to ...full story Gary H. Thanks and congrats to Dana, Michael, James, James, Kier, and Gary!

| Yohimbe and I snuck in a new feature on the site, E-mail This Cartoon. You will find it on the snappy little blue bar below the Daily cartoon, and in the fat pencil nav in the archives. Speaking of the archives, one of the registered newsletter members suggested that we should run a poll for top 10 favorites cartoons. What do *you* think about this idea?

| [Illiad] ANOTHER STEP UP THE STAIRCASE | Date:Wed Sep 6 09:28:37 2000 |
| I think by now everyone has a pretty good idea of my goal to prove that independent creators can become successful without the assistance of a middleman like a syndicate or record label. Now we're one step closer to that. The past year or so has proven to us that we're decidely limited in what we can do in terms of people and money, so producing the new features and cool add-ons that you guys have been asking for has been a slow process at best. We've certainly learned a lot, but one of those lessons was that we needed help in terms of financing. I've always believed in keeping you guys as up to date as I can, so here's the scoop: UF is now in the process of becoming financed. We're working on going public on the Canadian Venture Exchange via a Reverse Takeover of a publicly traded corporation called Vast Capital Pool. In plain language, it means that Vast Capital is giving us their company, a position on the exchange, financial guidance and a bag of funds in exchange for a piece of the UF pie. Just to head off any concerns, the original shareholders of UF (of which I'm one of the major ones) retain 60% control of the company. So we retain control and we get funding to give us the push we need to produce some of the projects that you folks have asked for. It's been a long and painful process, finding money. There's actually plenty of funding capital out there, but finding the capital without dangerous strings attached can be tough. We eventually found it though, so now we're going through the motions of completing the funding. We're also finally at a point where I can talk about it without sewering the deal or breaching any securities regulations. We're aware that the press releases about the deal can sound confusing. If you have any questions about the deal specifically, we'll do our best to answer them. Just fire off your concerns to info@userfriendly.org and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. We promise to keep you all in the loop!
