[Illiad] THE SPIFF REPORTDate:Mon Sep 6 23:31:24 2004
Once in a blue-tinted moon I come across a nifty service or product on the IntarWeb and think to myself I wish I had come up with the idea. But since I didn't, it's only right that I share my discoveries. And the first Spiff is the Retro-Gram, a Most Excellent Way of sending a Real Dead Tree Letter to someone! You type in your message online with the snail mail address and in a few days your recipient of choice will have a nifty and totally retro-looking telegram land in their mailbox.

The system is largely automated, a process designed and put together by the bright lads at DataEmporium Inc. In this day and age of e-mail hell, I found it a complete delight to get a retro-gram in the mail. Real Paper! Wow!

The service is US$3.95 per Retro-gram, which makes sending one not too painful on the wallet. It's a cool idea, one that I hope takes off. I'd be very interested in your impressions of the service; drop me an email and let me know what you think. If enough of you consider Retro-grams a cool thing, I might be able to set up some kind of deal with the DataEmporium guys that will benefit all of us.
