Feel like geekherding and beer this Friday eve? I'll be in San Jose for the weekend, and will be planting myself where there's beer, wine and that kind of thing, with the hope of attracting a few wayward geeks who'd like to tip a pint or two.
The venue is "this cool billiards place just down the street from the Marriott Hotel," which is connected to the San Jose McEnery Convention Centre. I don't have the name or address offhand, but I'll dig it up and do an update here this Friday when I get in (or, if you're a local and you know the area really well, please post a comment with some cluons in it for us furriners).
Befitting a geek gathering, we have nothing planned other than sitting, drinking and shooting the breeze. I'm aiming for sometime after dinner, say 7:30pm, and will stick around until eleven or so, depending on the crowd. If you're going to drop by, do leave a comment here so I can make reservations if need be.
I'll do a further update this Friday with more info. See y'all there!
UPDATE [THURSDAY, JAN 22 2003|1809 PST]: OK! It looks like we're going for the billiards place, which is South First Billiard (420 S. 1st St, San Jose, 95113). Website. There are several parking lots in the area, and the locals believe they should be free. I'll be showing around 7:30pm although I understand UFie Kethryvis will be there closer to 6:00pm. She's going to book a table for 10-15 people, as we already have 8 or 9 people confirmed to show. I've asked her to book us under "UserFriendly."
LATEST UPDATE [FRIDAY, JAN 23 2003|1813 PST]: ACK!! There's been a change of venue (I'll let the person who was forced to do that explain ;)): We're now meeting at Gordon Biersch located at 33 East San Fernando Street, San Jose, CA 95113, Phone: 408-294-6785
There'll be someone at the Billiard's place redirecting UFies until about 7:30pm. Sorry for the confusion gang!
I'll likely be there until 10 or so, and probably not much later given that my day tomorrow (Friday) will be starting around 5:00am.
Come on by and share a pint or a glass of wine! I might even bring a copy of Even Grues Get Full to give away as a trivia prize. See ya there!
