[Illiad] HELP BUILD ROCKET SHIPS!Date:Thu Jun 21 18:44:26 2007
Dust Puppy is their test pilot's mascot! And the fuzzy li'l guy accompanies Dick Rutan every time he gets in the cockpit. Wheee!

XCOR Aerospace is looking for a good machinist.

Want to help build rocket ships? XCOR Aerospace has an immediate opening for an experienced precision prototype / job shop machinist. CNC experience (both mill and lathe) required. Full competency with conventional equipment and freehand tool grinding capability also a must. Good pay commensurate with experience. Applicant should be a self-starter and function well within a small group. XCOR is a small company with a motivated, entrepreneurial and friendly working environment. This position is open to current U.S. citizens or permanent residents only. Position is located at the Mojave Spaceport and Civilian Aerospace Test Center in Mojave, CA. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required. Benefits include medical and dental, and all employees get rides! XCOR Aerospace is an equal opportunity employer.

Interested? Know someone who is? E-mail resume to shadowcat [-at-] engineer [-dot-] com or call Aleta at 661-824-4714 x113. Fax resume to 661-824-0866.

This is one cool company. If you can handle a lathe, drop them a line! I've been made to understand that the money they offer isn't in the top quartile, but it's reasonable, and the work environment and people are top-shelf. You get to work on rockets! Let them know Illiad at UF sent you!

[Illiad] ILLIAD FOR A DAY (IFAD 2007) RESULTS ARE IN!Date:Wed Jun 20 14:53:21 2007
Here come the excuses! For starters, I was burning the candle at all five ends for weeks to get my decks clear so I could take a 2-week trip with my family. As it turned out, I caught a nasty bug two days into the trip and was miserably ill for the entire time. I got better when I got back and had a pile of work to attend to. Not five days after I returned from the trip, I caught another bug, the worst cold I've had in over 20 years! This is the lame, long-winded way of me explaining why it's taken me this long to announce the winner and two runners-up for IFAD 2007. Yes, I know it's weak...

At long last, the results are in! The two runners-up in no particular order are (with a nod to Lilo & Stitch fans!) Glasnt and (Canuckiphobia!) Don Giovanni. The winner of IFAD 2007 is Kithplana with all kinds of frothy punnish goodness!

If the winners would be so kind as to drop me a line, I'll arrange to have their prizes sent to them. Thanks to everyone participated, and keep an eye out for IFAD 2008 and other contests coming to a UF site near you!
