| GET YER OWN DUST PUPPY | Date:Sun Nov 28 23:34:31 1999 |
| I kid you not, we've been working very hard to come up with a plush version of the little guy that you can stick on your monitor or mouse or hang him from a string. He's about six inches tall, and he sits down really nicely as you can see from the photo. The plush dolls are made of polyester/synthetic fibre with polyurethane beans inside. I've been made to understand that they'll be available for sale very shortly (in the first week of December), and will go for around CDN$18.00 or USD$12.00. I'll post an update when he's available in the Mechandise section.

| EVEN MORE FROBOTZZING IN ZORK | Date:Thu Nov 25 22:22:34 1999 |
| It seems the recent mention of Zork in the strip has brought on a great deal of nostalgia. Here're a couple more bits of info for those who are into Interactive Fiction: mbalitsk sent this in: Not only is Zork now available free, but the entire trilogy is available for the PalmPilot. The series, as well as many other adventure games, was written in a pseudo-language called Z-Code. A Z-Code interpreter, 'frotz', is available for the Palm at http://www.palmgear.com. The games are also there, packaged nicely with Aportis DOC versions of the prologue and cheats, and ImageViewer versions of the maps. Search for "frotz" and "z-code" from the main page. Warren Young contributed as well: Today's news mentions the freeing of Zork I - III, and how you found DOS versions to download and play. There's a program called jzip (http://www.frii.com/~jholder/jzip/) that can interpret the Infocom game format. It runs on various *ixes, and perhaps other systems -- Zork on Linux! Another related page is "The Infocom Page" (http://www.csd.uwo.ca/~pete/Infocom/), which, among other things, contains links to downloadable archives of the games. It's probably better-targetted than the dosgames.com site. Grand! Thanks guys!

| DUST PUPPY TUMMY | Date:Thu Nov 25 01:11:12 1999 |
I'm not sure if you'd call this an archivable work of art or what, but it sure was fun to draw. :) The young lady in the picture wanted a Dust Puppy on her tummy at Atlanta Linux Showcase, and by George she got one. Thanks Marie!

| MORE ZORK AND INFOCOM! | Date:Thu Nov 25 01:09:26 1999 |
| This in from Jens Jensen: Check out the Infocom pages at http://www.csd.uwo.ca/Infocom/ and, of course, the omnipotent IF-archive ftp://ftp.gmd.de/if-archive/ For us Grue/Linux people there's Lou's Infocom/Linux page: http://www.cfug.org/infocom/ Also, at one point you could buy CDs with all the other Infocom games; (one of my favourites was `Trinity') from Activision, but not all CDs contain all games. Check out: http://underworld.fortunecity.com/track/946/ for further details. Thanks Jens!

| ZORK NOW FREE | Date:Tue Nov 23 11:23:05 1999 |
| This in from Jim Newsome: Seeing the Zork references in the last few strips sent me on a nostalgia kick. After doing some web research a la google, I found that Activision has released the Zork trilogy for free. Unfortunately, the links on the Activision sight seemed to be broken, but I was able to download from http://www.dosgames.com Thanks Jim!

| THE NUTTY NET ON MSNBC | Date:Tue Nov 23 11:17:34 1999 |
Oh, the irony. Looks like User Friendly may be in the running for one of the "most fanciful, odd or arresting sites on the Internet" according to MSNBC. Imagine if we actually got on the list. Thanks to Sean Tobin for pointing it out! Details at http://www.msnbc.com/modules/surveys/nuttynet.asp

| WILL THE REAL GRUE PLEASE EAT US UP | Date:Mon Nov 22 19:06:02 1999 |
| Andrew Kensler took the trouble to research exactly what would happen if you typed "Kiss Grue" in a game of Zork. Here're the results: >down You have moved into a dark place. The trap door crashes shut, and you hear someone barring it. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue. >kiss grue I'd sooner kiss a pig. >N Oh, no! A lurking grue slithered into the room and devoured you! **** You have died **** Now, let's take a look here... Well, you probably deserve another chance. I can't quite fix you up completely, but you can't have everything. Forest This is a forest, with trees in all directions. To the east, there appears to be sunlight. Thanks Andrew! :)
