[Wildcard] TRANSMETA LOOKING FOR WETWARE ENGINEERSDate:Sun Feb 4 01:58:13 2001
This just in.
It seems that the Transmeta corperation may be looking for people to work on human-computer integration. Maybe the next version of the Crusoe Processor will be directly integrated with the human brain? Are we looking at true cybernetics? Is this the end of people calling anything that begins with "http://" cyberspace? Should we be hunting sourceforge for libESP.so in coming months?

So maybe it's just a spelling error, and maybe it's the same spelling error we've all made. Coming from Transmeta, it's just funny.

Look at the second requirement in the "Desired Skills" section on this page.

PS.
#include <disclaimer.h>
For the terminally clueless, this is a joke.

[sanity] THIRD ANNUAL TEAM UFIES SUN RUNNERSDate:Wed Jan 31 17:31:05 2001
Mapleleaf is looking for ten (at the very least) good geek women and men interested in fun and fitness in the name of all pure and UFie. Don't let the "r" word scare you off, reliable sources tell us that most people just walk the 10K course. Early bird registration, which saves you $5CAD, ends on February 15th so hurry up and check out the Sun Run information page on ufies.org. You can also contact mapleleaf for further details.

FYI: Fully paid team members will be getting custom t-shirts (art by Illiad) and there have been mentions that Illiad himself might show up to sweat with the fans. I've heard that Cartoonist sweat has magical properties... ;-P

[Kethryvis] DIVA AND KETH ON FIFTH AVENUEDate:Wed Jan 31 11:58:40 2001
Oh it was a scary day yesterday when da Diva, da Keth, and da Sparrow hit NYC's 5th avenue. Wow. I felt very very very poor. But a good time was had by all, and we all got *stunning* makeovers. This Diva o' mine, she looks amazing with bright red lips :)

But now we just have sore footses and having a blast meeting all the UFies coming to the booth! We're having a fun treasure hunt for a special UF puzzle that lots of folks are joining in on. After collecting all the pieces you're entered to win a special piece of art drawn by da Illiad himself. There are three, one for each day, but that's all there are! So if you're in the area, be sure and drop by!

Also, as promised, I have details on the UFie meet! We're meeting at the UF booth shortly before closing tomorrow, Feb 1. After that, we're all headed to O'farrel's on West 33rd St for dinner. Be sure to come with us and hang out. It'll be a grand time, promise.

See you all here!

[Illiad] LIGHTS ON BROADWAAAAAAAAAYDate:Tue Jan 30 20:42:28 2001
I'm off for the bright lights of New York City and Linux World Expo tomorrow, so I'll be generally incommunicado for several days. I am way behind on my e-mail, so please bear with me -- I promise to devote 2-3 days on catching up entirely when I return on the weekend.

Details on what's happening at the show in UFiedom can be found here, including a silent auction for a first edition UF book signed by all of the real-life analogs who make up the principal characters of Columbia Internet! Proceeds go directly to our friends at Geekcorps, a fine bunch of people indeed. And endless thanks to starlady for collecting the signatures and donating the book for this very worthy cause!

Finally, I heard a rumour that there's going to be a UF get-together on the evening of Feb 1, but knowing how little I actually know about these things, I suggest you ask the staff at the booth. I'm bound to get the details wrong. :)

[Illiad] TROLLIN' TROLLIN' TROLLIN'Date:Mon Jan 29 13:35:31 2001
Our pals The Dead Trolls have put up yet another phine phoray into phonic phunnies. The tune Every OS Sucks is bitter, belligerent and oh so familiar. There're some really clever turns of phrase in the lyrics; couple that with Wes' inimitable introduction and you have the makings of a bitter, belligerent classic!

Tsk. Such violence in art. ;)
