 You may recall that the April 11th LOTD was for the Trinity College Fire Fighting Home Robot Contest, where UFies Jeff Payne & Bill Lewinger were entering their bot, Erwin. Today Jeff writes,We finished 33rd out of 81 bots entered (53 qualified)..not as well as we hoped, but we ran into some last-minute snags. Preliminary work has already started on next year's version. | It is with great pleasure that I announce the vows of Peacefrog and Flaime, two UFies from different hemispheres who managed to fall in love and marry. The wedding took place Monday in Sydney Australia in what is described as a lovely, intimate ceremony. PeaceFrog, a dear friend of mine, and the Geek responsible for turning me on to Linux hails originally from Burnaby B.C.. He left 2 months ago to head to Oz to marry Flaime, a wonderful, beautiful soul whom he met online. Flaime herself hails from the Sydney/Liverpool area. Please wish them well in their married life by stopping in #purple on the Newnet,or dropping them a line of congratulations to The Frogs. All of User Friendly wishes them the very best in their wedded bliss and thanks them for being a fine example of how, no matter what the distance, love conquers all.

The details are still being worked out, but Illiad will be attending the London LINUX Expo 2000 June 1-2 with our friends SuSE, and a book signing is in the works. We will update the details as they unfold.

Every year the National Cartoonist Society puts on the Reuben Awards and names members in recognition of excellence in cartooning. The Milton Caniff Lifetime Achievment Award will be presented posthumously to Charles M. "Sparky" Schulz. More details can be found here. In memoriam et veritas.
