Everyone can blame UFie Mekkanik_Mike for this. It Wasn't My Idea, even if I did agree to it.
This file contains six PNG templates of UF strips. All you need to do is add dialogue. Then submit them to archivist [at] userfriendly.org. The forum regulars will pick the best of the lot, and those 'toons will be run in a month or so as daily offerings!
There are Rules, and the Rules are:
- Please submit the files in the two Web sizes described in the readme in the archive. Retain the print-ready originals for yourself.
- Be sure to put your name on the byline of each strip you submit.
- You may submit as many strips as you like.
- You can use all six templates for a six-day arc, or just do a four-day arc, or you can just submit a bunch of one-offs, or even just one one-off. Or anything in between.
- For the purposes of this 'contest' you can use any font you want for dialogue, but if you're a purist, the font you see in UF mostly is here.
- Minor changes to the templates are allowed. Things like changing Sid's smile into a frown, or adding tiny angry faeries around Stef's head are perfectly fine. Making Stef's head explode like a bag of vomit might be enjoyable, but are outside the scope of this 'contest.'
- This isn't really a contest in the sense of a winner with prizes, unless you count the fun of doing this and seeing your strip on the front page a prize, so we're calling it a 'contest', with the quote marks.
- Keep it PG-14 or tamer, as always.
- Submissions must be in by June 30, 2010.
- There may be other rules.
Just to be clear: Forum regulars will be doing the judging, not I. But I will be watching this 'contest' with an amused eye, no question!
Take care everyone, and good luck!

Submissions:
- Please mark subject as "UF by UFies".
- Please be sure to mention your UF id.
- If you want to submit an arc and a set of one day gags, I'd appreciate you keeping things in separate zip files. (Easier to track.)
Voting:
- Special diary will be set up for voting and discussion.
- Rules will follow later.
New rules:
- All submissions that meet criteria will be run.
- Point to be discussed is... do we run them anonymously and have feedback threads?
- OR run it run altered?
Discuss.
