ANOTHER BRIGHT FLAME GOES AWAY: Chris, known to UF Daily Forum regulars as DaNutBall, was hospitalized late last week for several serious conditions. We learned Sunday that even if he were to come out of his coma, he would very probably remain in a vegetative state. His mother elected to take him off of life support.
Chris was not only bright, personable and giving, he was an upstanding UF community member in all of the ways that mattered. His first email to me was one that urged me to "keep up the great work," the kind of letter that creators like myself treasure dearly.
One of Chris' closest friends has put together a site that links to his LiveJournal and other locations where the story is told and condolences and help may be offered. If you knew DaNutBall at all, please drop by and write a short note for his family to read. Lastly, I offer my humble tribute to Chris.
WE HAVE A NEW HOST BODY:UF is as of now no longer hosted by EV1.Net and has found a new home with fellow Canadians at ServerNorth! We get more personalized service and a faster, better setup. I've been looking to switch hosts for a while now, and for a number of reasons, the EV1 - SCO kaffufle being one of them (albeit a moot one ever since EV1 apologized for giving Darl and his swindlers a million bucks). I have no complaints with EV1's techies -- they've all been very helpful and quick on the response; the company fell down in a few other places, and as such I decided it was time to go.
Please note that if moving UF wasn't such a chore (hats off to Yohimbe and Myke for effecting a difficult move!) and fairly expensive, I would've done it a while ago. But we're here now. DNS records should be updated by now; if you have trouble getting to the site, please drop us a line at our tech@ address.
AND TO MAKE YOUR DAILY VISIT MORE PRODUCTIVE: Over the last few years, several of our forum participants spent time and skull sweat to develop some really spiffy tools to make using the Daily Forum easier. UFie Bellator was kind enough to amalgamate them into a single point at the UF Toolbox. Enjoy! This should make the vast amounts of time you spend on the forum that much more...productive? :)
