| [Illiad] THE GOOD KIND OF TROLLS | Date:Fri Oct 20 20:24:29 2000 |
| Our buddies over at the Canadian comedy troupe Three Dead Trolls and a Baggie had a bit of a scare the last few days. Their recent spike in traffic (thanks to the link on this page) caused the MP3.com staff to suspend their page to investigate the sudden influx. Apparenly MP3.com has a real problem within their community with people who mess with the ratings charts artificially. Not very nice, in my point of view. The ability to get the content you want directly from the artist is something that should never be abused, lest we end up being beholden to the middlemen like the record labels for another fifty years. In any case, Wes and his pals are back in action. Their site is here and you can see the fallout from the whole thing here. To MP3.com's credit, their director of online community (Ms. Tanya Radosevic) was polite, fast and really wanting to just get to the truth. I don't agree with their general policy, but Ms. Radosevic mitigated much of my concern by being cordial and non-adversarial.

| [Illiad] THE GEEKCORPS GO MARCHING ALONG | Date:Thu Oct 19 19:02:56 2000 |
| Remember a while back we did a piece on the fab outfit known as the Geekcorps? I had the chance to meet Ethan (the CEO) at ALS and I was pleased to hear that it's been a great success. The first six geeks are on the ground in Ghana (two of them are UFies!) and things are proceeding swimmingly. I mentioned to Ethan that if there was a third-world country that could use a cartoonist I'd be up for it. So far he's been...um...vague. Think you're up for the challenge? Send in an application and help those less fortunate.

| [Illiad] DINOSAURS REMAIN POPULAR & SUNDRY | Date:Mon Oct 16 17:53:12 2000 |
| It seems the concensus is to keep Sid around! Your wish is my command. I'll make sure he remains a recurring character at Columbia Internet. While I have your attention, I'd like to mention that you don't in fact need an account in the Friendly Forum to participate. At the moment you just type in your name and away you go. For the future we're examining ways to integrate the ARS (comment system for the cartoons) into the Forum itself so you have one login for everything. One login, one password, one procedure. Hey...can I patent that? :)
