[WebDiva D] THIS WEEK IN THE GEEK BAZAARDate:Fri Jul 6 09:59:56 2001
Geek Bazaar UF would like to welcome Simply Sonic and Stylus Central to the Geek Bazaar. And, for the good UFies who have been waiting impatiently, the next installment of UF:TNG is up.

So, if you think of a company or product that might be appropriate for the Geek Bazaar e-mail us with your suggestion and we will do the rest. Thanks again from all of us!

[Yohimbe] HANDS PLEASE, HOW MANY UFIES ARE THERE?Date:Thu Jul 5 18:14:14 2001
As some of you might have noticed, we've got an extra gif at the very bottom of the page.

We're trying to see how many ufies there are, and this task is rather complicated by the increasing use of proxies, especially at the larger companies where potentially thousands of people view the site.

Rather than resort to the ugly things that some firms are advocating like web bugs, we're trying this. This graphic has some special http headers on it that attempt to turn off proxy caching for just this one file, so we get a slightly better idea of who is viewing the site. You don't have to click on it, its just there.

Let us know if you have any thoughts on this.

[Illiad] LEAVIN' ON A JET PLANEDate:Tue Jul 3 12:13:25 2001

And away I go to LinuxTag in Germany. Since my e-mail access is likely to be spotty at best, please be patient if you write me. I'll likely have a backlog to get through, and I may not be able to attend to it until the 8th or 9th, when I return.

I admit that I'm very much looking forward to seeing the folks I met at LinuxTag last year and meeting those that I didn't. And no, I'm not going to get drunk. Too many people around with net access and digital cameras. :)

In the meantime I leave you at the tender mercies of WebDiva and Yohimbe, and of course the effervescent Iambe in her daily column.

[Yohimbe] CODE COVERAGE ANALYSIS - FROM DR DOBB'S JOURNALDate:Tue Jul 3 11:36:38 2001
Doctor Dobb's Journal, one of the oldest, and most respected journals of coding technique out there has a great article on coverage analysis. Got me thinking (Did I check coverage in ARS? Hmmm....). For those of you who are not familiar, coverage analyis makes sure that your testing includes every line of code. Its pretty embarrassing to ship partially untested code because you haven't tested the all the possible code paths. This article not only explains coverage analysis in general, but gives a good summary on how to do it in perl (my favourite language...)
