[Illiad] BACKFEED AUGUST 2003 V1.1Date:Wed Aug 13 22:29:46 2003
August backfeed update time-o.

WAGONS HO, ON THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST TRAIL: I'll be on my way down to Seattle to do a brief talk (about something) at the Greater Seattle Linux Users Group on September 13th. I can promise you it won't have anything to do with 'tricks with X' or 'KDE is better than GNOME.' More than likely it'll have something to do with, uh, funny. Maybe funny-strange.

WOODFIBRE FOR EVEN LESS MONEY: The fine folks at Plan Nine Publishing are running a sale until August 15th, so get cracking! Sale items include User Friendly v1.0 and Son of the Bastard (illustrated by yours truly).

THIS IS A BIRTHDAY YOU JUST DON'T WANT TO FORGET: This in from Adrian Estergard of the Vancouver Gaming Guild!

The Vancouver Gaming Guild is having a horrifyingly good time and you're invited!

If you know who HP Lovecraft is and like gaming, or even if you don't, come on down to the Marpole Curling Club on August 30, 31 & September 01 to see what's afoot. The Vancouver Gaming Guild, a community of gamers from Vancouver BC and the surrounding areas, is putting on a horror-themed gaming convention in honor of the great, late, Howard Phillips Lovecraft.

As part of the celebration, The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets will be performing at the Railway Club on Sunday night (Aug 31). It costs extra to get into the rock show but it comes with a free Cthulhu LARP!

The HP Lovecraft Birthday Gaming Convention will also feature games and fun for everyone, including:

- Call of Cthulhu live action and tabletop games & insanity - Dungeons & Dragons 3.0 and 3.5! - Living Greyhawk & Arcanis & Force & Dragonstar & Death adventures - A DE BELLIS MULTIDUDINUS tournament game - Spaceship Zero - All Flesh Must Be Eaten - Arkham Horror - Mythos the CCG - Vampire: the Masquerade - CthulhuTech - Arcana Unearthed - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Seventh Seal - Mechwarrior - Unknown Armies - Shadowrun - Spycraft - Changeling - HeroClix - And More!

For more information on the convention, including pre-registering for games, buying tickets online and just who the heck the Vancouver Gaming Guild is, check out: http://www.vancouvergamingguild.com

Tickets for this event are $15 for the weekend and are available at fine local game stores near you, or online by emailing thickets@uniserve.com

One more backfeed update a-comin' before the end of the month!
