| [WebDiva D] APRIL GEEKFINDER SUCCESS STORY | Date:Thu Apr 6 12:36:50 2000 |
| My thanks and congrats to Chris M for coming thru in the clinch with April's Geekfinder success story! So, I've been in a bozo-position (read outside sales, non-technical) for quite some time. I've been doing some web development, PHP/MySQL for a while, mostly unpain, and primarily for fun. Having only a year or so experience, I was, to say the least doubtful of my career options in that direction. Was I wrong! Looking for a change, I, full of doubt, announced my availability via the Geekfinder/Dice.com site. Within a week I had three interviews, two offers, and at least a dozen inquiries. All of these offers have been for positions in web development, all of have been for higher salaries, and quite a few have been bery nice. As of today, I'm moving to a new job in two weeks. My new position is in a company with an environment I've been describing all day as geek heaven. Flex hours, big pay increase, creative freedom, real benefits, stock options, and a no-pressure position doing what I want. If I could, I would start tomorrow, but I have commitments to keep. I haven't been this excited about work in years! Thank you Userfriendly for changing my life! Chris M If you haven't tried Geekfinder yet, get on over there! Over 200,000 jobs in the database, and growing. I am always happy to get success stories from geeks and geek employers who have used Geekfinder. If you have one, send it to me.

| [Illiad] DUST PUPPY AT BIG BLUE | Date:Wed Apr 5 15:51:43 2000 |
| This in from Dolphi5: As part of a renovation of the building here in Big Blue, Minnesota, we are having a semi-approved contest for marker art on the soon-to-be-demolished internal walls. Wind your way back in the maze, and you will find the visage of the lovable Dust Puppy staring back at you. I thought there should be some other representation of geekdom besides the over-used cubicle dweller D. Cool -- anyone at IBM Minnesota care to send us some photos?

| SURVEY 2000 RESULTS AS INTERPRETED BY WEBDIVA D - PART III | Date:Wed Apr 5 11:22:32 2000 |
Coming up to final compilation of results, dear UFies. It's all number crunching. Total responses to Survey 2000: 10,783...3 times more than last year. Total number of UFies who made comments: 4012Of the UFies who made comments, here are some illuminating stats. Number of references to: PVC 5 Quake 25 Slashdot 50 Tech support 64 Sluggy crossover 100 This stupid survey 111 Number of repetitions of the word/phrase: I am a geek/geek grrl 156 I love/luv UF 383 UF rules/rulez/rulz 64 UF rocks/rawks/rawx 85 UF is cool/coool/kewl 118 Keep up the good work 309 UF is my start-up screen/first stop every day 222 Number of UFies who: commented in ascii characters 125 commented in Pitr's accent "am thinkink/beink/havink" 365 Number of UFies who pointed out "You twits! You didn't include": My occupation 14 My country 30 My graduate degree 15 40,000 - 49,000 income range 74 A large enough comments field 88 Allowance for multiple OS selection 103 ...I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the UF staffers and especially the Marketing folk who created the survey to say, "DOH! We're sorry!" And this from my email today... Dear WebDiva: I read the results of the character survey with mixed emotions. While it's nice to be at least rated in the middle of the pack, I'm a little disturbed that I seem to be somewhat less popular than the crud puppy. Perhaps there was some error in compiling the results, an error made perhaps by some Columbia Internet staffer who might soon be contemplating a career change? The Chief Gulp.
