GRID.ORG CLOSED: The grid.org project run by United Devices
has closed down suddenly. Former grid.org crunchers are most welcome to join
Team UserFriendly.Org at World Community Grid. We have
piles of work to do, and work scheduled for years ahead. We are currently
tackling AIDS, Muscular Dystrophy and the human genome, with a new cancer
project due to launch soon.
SCIENCE GEEKS: I know many UFies work in academia, in labs or for
non-profits. So, if you know any groups doing or planning computational
research with a humanitarian goal, please point them to World Community
Grid. WCG will do their computation free of charge, and offer an enormous
amount of support to overworked scientists on a shoestring budget. The first
step is to submit a proposal to WCG.
