| [Illiad] PETITION FOR LINUX DRIVERS | Date:Thu Mar 9 11:59:23 2000 |
| David Basener sent in a link to the Libranet Linux Driver Petition. From their website: We at Libranet are committed to helping to make the GNU/Linux operating system as functional as possible for Linux desktop users. Linux is hampered by a lack of drivers for some pc devices, notably printers. In an effort to help correct this, we are collecting signatures to a petition which will be submitted to the major producers of pc devices. It is our hope that we will collect 2,000,000 signatures within a short time and that this will cause these companies to take notice of the need to co-operate with Linux developers in producing Linux drivers for their products. The market force of Linux is strong and we feel that this petition will demonstrate this. We are hosting this petition in the expectation that this will bring benefits to the The Free Software and Open Source communities in general. We ask you to sign the petition and join us in helping make Linux even better than it already is. I urge you to sign this petition; doing so will help us all.

| [WebDiva D] MARCH GEEKFINDER SUCCESS STORY | Date:Tue Mar 7 12:50:42 2000 |
| My thanks and congrats to Greg B for this month's Geekfinder Success! A couple of weeks ago I decided that I needed to find out what my real worth in the market is. I'm not unhappy with my current job, but I'm not totally happy with it either. I went to the Geekfinder web site and entered the keyword "Java" and the 2 area codes I wanted to look at. There were 357 entries! I sent out 14 resumes thinking that the job market still works the way it use to in years past. I use to send out a dozen resumes every week and maybe after 2 or 3 weeks I'd start getting calls. Well, within 5 hours of clicking the "send" button I had received phone calls from 9 of those 14 companies. The next week I had an interview every single day. On some days I interviewed during my lunch hour and again after work... Read full success story
