| [Wildcard] PLANETARY ALIGNMENT | Date:Fri May 5 14:27:02 2000 |
Go outside into the Big Blue Room tonight and look up. The planets won't be this close to each other again until 2675. I wonder if there'll be End-Of-The-World buffs when that rolls around? Check out this article by John Mosley from the Griffith Observatory on the subject.

Chris Browne of Hagar the Horrible has a featured article in "So You Wanna Be A Cartoonist", a look in Fun Town will reveal some of the faces behind the cartoons we know and love, while in another section the cartoonists list the funniest cartoons they ever saw. Happy Cartoonists Day to all of you who share a chuckle with us through your creations...now make someone take you out for lunch!

| [WebDiva D] LOOK UP, WAAAAAAYYYY UP....HEAVEN HAS A NEW STAR | Date:Tue May 2 22:29:21 2000 |
| Canadian UFies will be saddened by the loss of Bob Homme--the Friendly Giant. His children's television show aired on the CBC for over 25 years. Together with Jerome the Giraffe and Rusty the Rooster, the Friendly Giant would sing and tell stories in a most understated and thoroughly enchanting way. Thank you for the rocking chair and good rest to you now gentle, gentle man. I am reminded today by UFies Russ and Susan that "not only Canadian UFies will miss The Friendly Giant, but those of us who grew up near the US/Canadian border." As Susan puts it, "My brother and I always watched The Friendly Giant. I can still remember the wonderful feeling I got when he would adjust the chairs in front of the fire at the end of the show."

I've had a few inquiries about the April 30, 2000 cartoon, people not understanding the reference. Getting the cartoon does assume that you saw this poster for Star Wars: the Phantom Menace last year.
