I am very pleased to introduce the first in a series of I.T. parodies sponsored by the hardworking software engineers over at Seattle Lab, producers of content security software. And, just to add icing to the cake, everyone who downloads the trial version of their mail security software gets their name entered in a draw for one of several autographed copies of The Root of All Evil. Given that I'm taking a break from travelling to trade shows, these are going to be rare for a while. So go watch the animation, grab the software, and enter the draw! The inspiration for this parody came from the US Army's Army of One recruitment commercials on TV. The parallels were so clear... For those of you who receive the Open Learning Network or the show Dotto on Data, I'm off to do a live interview with Steve Dotto between 2:00pm and 3:00pm today (Sunday, Sept 30). I'm told the interview will last about 7 to 10 minutes, and we're supposed to be talking about the third UF book, The Root of All Evil. See you on the airwaves! Update:D'oh!! The show was taped and will air next week. I'll post the details as soon as I get them - might be a few days. And I'll see about an online capture of the show. Sorry, my fault on the scheduling screwup.

Time to calm a few nerves. Despite the very sad event of last week (and I'm referring to an event other than the catastrophic tragedy in the U.S.) UF will continue to exist. Yes, it'll feel very different to the few of us who remain, but the site and cartoon and community will indeed carry on. We've had recent evidence that as long as we weather the economic storm, things look very rosy for the long-term. We'll probably come to you guys for help in some form; our thanks to everyone who wrote in with some very intriguing suggestions. I'll be posting some information about our future plans in the next couple weeks. And as always, we're continually looking for your feedback and ideas. Thanks gang!
