| YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND 07:48 PST 11 SEP 1998 See, you need but ask. Daily Static is now up and running, a bookmarkable static resource that I update with the latest cartoon and a blurb or two. It's printable on a single page (so far) for those who are so inclined. The page will likely undergo growth and development over time, with new features and maybe even a little satirical journalism. Let me know what you think, and if you have any ideas for the page I'm listening. STUFFING THE BALLOTS 07:45 PST 11 SEP 1998 My fault, really. I neglected to switch on single-vote enforcement until we were ~60 votes into the poll, which means that you could have voted several times in the space of a minute. Enforcement is on now, but I'll have to go through and correct the polling data to compensate for ballot stuffing. Live and learn...

FORGIVENESS IS DIVINE 11:56 PST 10 SEP 1998 It looks like the consensus over today's cartoon is that it's potentially very confusing to those who have a grip on their religion. So I changed it to read "Protestant". Sometimes I'm glad that User Friendly isn't in print form, because you don't have the luxury of making changes after the fact, but on the other hand, I'm sure I'd have a couple of editors watching my every move if the strip was in the papers. For now, I'll just rely on you guys. Thanks to Christopher Lamey for the excellent theology lesson. FORGIVE ME FATHER, FOR I KNOW NOT WHAT I DO 10:35 PST 10 SEP 1998 It's time I brushed up on my Comparative Theology. According to some mail I've been getting, it appears that Catholics do have icons, and Protestants don't. I was under the impression that the worship of icons was a no-no throughout Christianity. Any Catholics out there care to shed some light on this? If you have a definitive answer, please write me.

ET TU, BRUTE? 08:32 PST 09 SEP 1998 The latest discussion in the Friendly Forum is over what you call a UF reader. UFite? UFfie? The reason for this is simple: I need to know what to put on some of the User Friendly merchandise I'm working on. No, nothing confirmed yet, but I'll let you know as we get closer to getting new T-shirts, mousepads, etc. In the meantime, drop by the Forum and let us all know what you think would be a good moniker. ANOTHER LAME-ASS RIP-OFF 08:27 PST 09 SEP 1998 I caved. I had to do it. I experimented with the single-panel cartoon format made famous by the immortal Gary Larson. It's called Core Dump and it's viewable over at Segfault. I'm only doing one of those a week, since I already have a heaping plateful of other projects to work on (cartoons, cartoons and more cartoons...). I suspect Core Dump will have a much smaller audience, since the humour is, well, extra-geeky. It's been running for two weeks. Forgive me if you can.

AN ARRAY OF UF READERS? 09:47 PST 08 SEP 1998 I need some help here. What do you call a User Friendly reader? "User Friendly-ite" is way too clumsy. And to make it tougher, what do you call a group of them? E-mail me your suggestions, or even better, feel free to post them in the Forum. CONSPIRACY THEORY! 09:45 PST 08 SEP 1998 Looks like the Friendly Forum has taken off to a good start. Feel free to drop by and participate in the discussions. One witty old salt came up with a conspiracy theory about the cartoon strip (see the "Zombie" thread in the Forum). No comment. "ILL" SITE OF THE DAY 07:45 PST 08 SEP 1998 Heh. My thanks to Tony Jordan for making User Friendly the "Ill Site of the Day." Quote from Tony: We chose this name because "it sucks to be sick but its cool to be ill." Anyway, we are proud to tell you that your site User Friendly was the ill site of the day on 9-02-1998. There's a cool graphic on the fans page which is, of all things, the word "cool" in Braille. That way even the vision-impaired can tell that it's cool to be geeky.
