UFies are great. Whenever they want to see something, they go right out and do it! Here are some other great ways to meet other UFies and participate in the UFie Community, set up by (with the exception of the Friendly Forum)UFies themselves!
Head here to discuss... well just about anything! Also check out the page that UFie and FF regular Babs has put up with pics of many of the FF regulars!
Thanks to the efforts of the mighty Arcterex, there's a place for UFies to "hang out." We're not sure if that's referring to body parts or not, but either way it's a cool site to visit.
User Friendly IRC channel We're on Undernet and the channel name is #userfriendly. Drop by and say hello! Also check out the MugShots of all the #uf regulars put together by Bean. Thanks Bean!!
#SPORKS IRC Channel There's an alternate channel at irc.mWare.ca to be found under the #SPORKS. Thanks to Myke!
UFie BBS Harkening back to the halcyon days of dial-up Bulletin Boards, the UFie BBS can be reached at http://bbs.ufies.org and telnet://bbs.ufies.org. Tradewars and Lord and other famous BBS door games are available, as are message boards, Fidonet feeds, and more! Thanks go to Moe, the generous chap who set the whole thing up and paid for the license!
UFie Mailing Lists There are several mailing lists you can join:
-
User Friendly Mailing List (Unmoderated) This was the first mailing list created for fans of the comic strip. The list is run by a committee of five elected UFies. You can also visit their webpage for their charter and other information.
-
DFW UFies List This is a list mainly centered around UFies in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area (or anywhere in Texas), but you don't have to live in Texas to join. Send a blank email to ufies-subscribe@dfwufies.org. Needo is the ListOwner.
-
Midwest UFies List This list is centered (no pun intended) around UFies in the Midwestern USA. You can subscribe by sending email to majordomo@skywalker.ou.edu with subscribe mw-ufies in the body. UFie Junii is the ListOwner.
UFie Webring No, it's not just a ring of sites with UF cartoons all over them, it's a collective of sites run by UFies, and you'll find a wide assortment of interests here. Thanks to Dramoth for getting it going!
Ever hear about the RC5 Project at distributed.net? Well, there's a UFie Team there looking for your help! Just edit your team affiliation to 10938 in your participant information and you're in. Let's put all of that processing power to use and get cracking! Thanks to Dave Easterly for getting the ball rolling.
Want to help find life on other planets? SETI@Home is how to do it. We even have a Team UFie for you to join. If you want to see how well Team UFie is doing, check here. The Team Leader is CodeRonin.
