the propeller uC, I've done in external hardware. External A/D converter takes the load off the uC. But I'm a firm believer in 'The right tool for the right job'. I'm sure there's plenty of situations in which a simple system has no space for an external converter. Or it's really important to have interrupt pins. It's one thing to hack something similar into a Propeller, but probably more stable in an AVR / PIC.
