Clean, sober, & bored utterly s4less.
*Sigh*
If I could figure out why Comcast is blocking new devices from accessing my network even when I plug them into the Cat5, I might be able to entertain myself by hooking an old laptop up & surfing the web under XP.
But no matter what device I try, anything other than *this* specific computer gets blocked from even discovering the network.
No network, no internet, nada zip zilch bupkiss.
*Sigh*
If my "new" computer hadn't gotten lost by UPS, I might entertain myself with getting it on the network.
But I'm fairly certain that it wouldn't be able to connect either.
Two different brand new Windows 10 machines, an Apple Imac, and the old Win XP laptop have all hit a wall in that regard.
*Frustrated sigh*
I've got a Raspberry Pi that I could try to configure, but I can't even figure out what I need to do to gain access in the first place.
"Raspberry Vi", the Raspian OS for the Visually Impaired, doesn't seem to do squat.
I plug it in, hook up a keyboard (this one), plug in the audio jack to my speakers (I know it all works), and wait...
No audio clues as to the boot state, no chime nor beep to say it's in the OS itself, & nothing to indicate WTF it might be doing.
"Just Telnet or SSH into it!"
Except that I can only connect it to this computer via the USB cable, and that only gets me a Windows error chime that the USB device that just tried to connect failed to do it properly.
Which leaves a Cat5 cross over cable, something I don't have.
Meaning it's just one more device that gets to gather dust in a drawer.
*Frustrated head smashing into the desk until I knock myself out cold*
